Students are eligible for waiver of compulsory attendance requirements through participation in a high school equivalency preparation program under the following conditions:
- The student is at least sixteen (16) years of age.
- An educational plan is developed during a meeting with the student, the student’s parents or guardians, and the principal or principal’s designee which includes:
- Career guidance counseling;
- Mandatory enrollment in a general educational development program with an attendance requirement that provides for reporting of student nonattendance by the program administrator to the principal; and,
- Counseling on the economic impact of failing to complete high school.
Students approved for waiver of compulsory attendance requirements through participation in a high school equivalency preparation program who fail to comply with the conditions of their educational plan shall be deemed to have forfeited the compulsory attendance waiver.
