553P - Annual Leave

Frederick County Public Schools shall provide annual leave (vacation) benefits to all full-time twelve (12) month employees to be administered in accordance with the following provisions. 
  1. All full-time employees (12-month contracts only) will be eligible to accrue the equivalent of ten (10) days of annual leave with pay each fiscal year. Employees who have completed six (6) or more years of experience with FCPS shall be eligible to accrue the equivalent of fifteen (15) days of annual leave with pay each fiscal year. 

    Employees may transfer a maximum of six years (72 months) experience from public school systems, accredited non-public schools, or governmental agencies to be credited toward the six year requirement for accruing 15 days of annual leave provided such experience was also credited with respect to placement on the salary scale with Frederick County Public Schools. New administrators shall have both teaching and administrative experience considered for annual leave accrual regardless of also having it apply toward salary. 

  2. Annual leave may be accumulated to a maximum of forty-five (45) days. 

  3. Upon separation from employment, employees will be paid for the unused portion of accrued and accumulated annual leave.
